Group Supervisory Control Systems (FI Series)

A group control system groups multiple elevators for achieving a well-balanced operation by taking waiting times into account. Such a system requires flexibility so that it can be used in various types and sizes of buildings and be responsive to changing traffic demand. An algorithm that allocates elevator cars at equal time intervals for shortening the average waiting times and reducing the probability of a long wait is used in Hitachi group control systems.

FI-600 The highest model, FI-600, in which Future Reference-Trajectory Control is used. Hitachi has evolved its elevator operation control to reduce waiting times, particularly long wait times, which comprises the heart of group control performance. The future reference-trajectory control is a group control system aiming to minimize the long waiting period by operating elevator cars at equal time intervals while forecasting future trajectory.
FI-100 FI-100 extracts characteristics such as traffic flow from the usage data collected by the learning system, and searches for an optimum operation program for the identified traffic flow mode. Thereafter, elevator cars are allocated at equal time intervals according to “Reference-Trajectory Control” for shortening the average waiting times and reducing the probability of a long wait. The allocation according to “Reference-Trajectory Control” is an application of the theory used in the highest model, FI-600, which is implemented with the intelligent-based data containing know-how accumulated over a long period of time.
FI-10 FI-10 (simplified group control) operates three or four elevator cars as a group. It is designed for use in buildings with a low traffic demand. The FI-10 system provides a ring control to allocate the elevator car closest to the floor where a new hall call is registered. Since FI-10 does not provide the bunching prevention function, waiting times may be longer compared with the FI-600 and FI-100 when the traffic gets heavy.
